Qualifications
- Canadian Payroll Association Supervisor Certified
- Canadian Payroll Association Administrator Certified
- Payroll Canada Law Certification
- 35 Years of payroll experience with companies having 1 to 1400 employees
- Payroll experience in a vast of array of companies and organizations
- Payroll software expertise with Quickbooks (Desktop and Online), Simply Accounting (Sage)
Payroll - weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly
- Review and verify payroll documentation and analyze transactions for completeness, accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures, government laws, regulations and collective agreements
- Ensure payroll processing meet required deadlines
- Communicate written or verbal, when pay documentation is incomplete or does not adhere to established payroll practices. Determine corrective action, revise, process and
communicate action accordingly
- Perform detailed pay and leave calculations for salaried employees, timesheet employees and other pay authorization documents. Determine appropriate deductions from gross pay and calculate net pay
- Ensure wages and tax withholdings comply with regulations
- Calculating bonuses, allowances and deductions
- Calculating and tracking Commission payments
- Deduct for garnishments such as Family Responsibility Office, court imposed garnishments and maintenance enforcement orders
- Compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages and reporting on such
- Examine payroll-processing output for accuracy and completeness
- Calculate, prepare and remit payroll remittances for employee deductions and for employer portions
- Payroll remittances: monthly, threshold 1 and threshold 2
- Calculate and issue vacation payout, benefit premiums and records of employment for employee lay-offs, resignations and terminations using both manual method and ROE Web
- Arrange for distribution of pay stubs, cheques and direct deposits
- Resolving all payroll discrepancies
- Entering new employee data and closing files for employees who have left
- Answer questions about compensation, benefits, taxes and insurance deductions
- Employee verification letters
- Adhere to a strict code of confidentiality
Year-end Forms
- Preparing and distributing T4 and T4a
- Calculating and reporting T4 Summary
- Calculating and reporting T4 reconciliation report
Government Related
- TD1 forms - Provincial and Federal
- Remit periodic pension remittances
- Communicate with and provide information and specified reports to outside organizations such as Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, Pension Corporation and Employment Insurance
WSIB
- WSIB monthly and quarterly calculating and reporting
- Online reporting through the WSIB online portal
- WSIB Year-end reconciliation
Additional Remittances
- Calculate and report union remittances
- Calculate and remit EHT on an annual basis to meet the reporting deadlines
